Rebecca DeMattia, LCSW-C, CC-TP, GC-C, owner and founder, has over 14 years experience providing grief counseling services to individuals, families and couples. She specializes in all types of grief, including non-death related grief, traumatic deaths, and adjustment concerns related to terminal and acute medical diagnoses. She also provides faith-based counseling services as well as addresses the needs of those experiencing stress, anxiety and depression. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and PhD Candidate.
Courtney Miller, LCSW-C, APC has provided mental health services for over 8 years with a focus on social and emotional wellness for children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in providing counseling to support child and adolescent behaviors, those experiencing anxiety and depression, and working with the family system to resolve conflict. Mrs. Miller is knowledgeable about the public school system, special education services, and community resources. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and an Advanced Professional Educator with an endorsement in School Social Work.
Elizabeth Zachik, LCPC comes to Discovering Serenity from multiple years of work and training at Johns Hopkins. Her clinical focus is on social and emotional wellness for children, adolescents, and adults with her specialty being in emotional and behavioral management with child and their families. She also has experience working with clients who have suffered from symptoms related to anxiety, depression, and trauma. Elizabeth received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. She has worked for the University of Maryland, Catholic Charities, and Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center throughout her internship and as a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor. Her most recent job at Johns Hopkins was as a school-based therapist where she provided therapy in two Baltimore City Elementary/Middle Schools.
Laura McKenzie, MS, LGPC comes with many years of experience partnering with children, adolescents and young adults with developmental disabilities and behavioral support needs to achieve their goals for life planning. She is a mother of four who understands personally the complexities of supporting individuals with mental health disorders. She is passionate about working with those in pursuit of personal and relational wellness. She has a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and continues in her role as transition coordinator at The Benedictine School.
Karen Porter, LCPC has been a counselor for over 30 years, working as a consultant, in private practice as well as with Special Needs students. She is an LCPC, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, in addition to an Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist-ASDCS, a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional-CIMHP, and has a certification in Art Therapy-TI-ATC. She specializes in Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Life Transitions and Coping skills. She takes a holistic approach to fulfilling your goals. Her approach is one of working with you, identifying your strengths and needs, exploring goals and developing the necessary steps to help you achieve those goals, both mentally and physically.
Montana Dye, Social Work Intern, will graduate with her MSW from Salisbury University in December 2022. She achieved her Associates Degree from Chesapeake College in 2019 and her bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 2021. She has been a resident of the Eastern Shore since she was 10 years old. In her free time, she enjoys playing softball and traveling around the world. She has always had a love for helping others & making connections.
Samantha Jones, Social Work Intern, will graduate with her MSW from Salisbury University in December 2022. She has extensive experience working with children, youth and families and is excited to expand her career and begin her work as a school-based therapist.
Anna Hall, LMSW, recently graduated with her MSW from Salisbury University in May 2022. She has extensive experience working with children, youth and families.
